#19 Sharks conclude play at NCAA Regional Tournament

HOWEY-IN-THE-LIONS, Fla. – The 19th ranked Nova Southeastern Sharks Men’s Golf team concluded play at the NCAA Regional Tournament on Saturday afternoon. The Sharks (+25/294/295/300) finished the tournament tied for 16th place.

How it Happened

  • Starting on the 11th hole, Elias Mardeni recorded pars on six of his first eight holes and added a birdie. Mardeni added an additional five pars across the back nine and finished the round with a 74. 
  • Bruno Marques began his round with three consecutive pars, totaling 11 on the day, and closed the tournament at two-over. 
  • Christian Munoz started the final round with a birdie and followed with four straight pars. Munoz closed the day at five-over. 
  • Ivan Ponsdomenech recorded a pair of birdies and totaled 10 pars in his final round. 
  • Jorge Berea closed the tournament by shooting a 79, recording two birdies in the final round. 

What's Next

#19 Sharks finish round two at NCAA Regional Tournament

HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. – The 19th ranked Nova Southeastern Sharks Men’s Golf team wrapped up its second round of action at the NCAA South/Southeast Regional Tournament on Friday afternoon. Following two rounds, the Sharks (+13/294/295) are in 14th place. Elias Mardeni continues to lead NSU, ending the second round at one-under (69/74).

How it Happened

  • Bruno Marques (37th/+2/74/72) shot the lowest round of the day for the Sharks, finishing Friday’s round at an even-par. Marques totaled four birdies on the day and parred six consecutive holes from seven through 12. 
  • Elias Mardeni maintained his standing in the top-20 after two rounds. The freshman recorded eight pars on the front nine, before adding six more on the back nine. 
  • Jorge Berea (+4/74/74) parred the first three holes of the day and recorded four birdies on the round. Three of Berea’s birdies came on the back nine, finishing the round strong. 
  • Christian Munoz (+8/77/75) parred 10 consecutive holes from the fifth through the 14th. 
  • Ivan Ponsdomenech totaled nine pars on the day and added three birdies on the back nine.

After the first round, NSU (+6/294) sits in 12th place. Elias Mardeni (-3/69) ended the first round tied for second place in individual competition, two strokes off the individual lead.

How it Happened

  • After bogeying the second hole of the tournament, Elias Mardeni recorded three consecutive birdies before closing the front nine with four straight pars. Mardeni maintained the momentum following the turn, adding another four consecutive pars. Mardeni tallied two more birdies on the back nine, closing the day three-under and tied for second place. 
  • Bruno Marques (+2/74) recorded three birdies and 10 pars in his opening round of play. 
  • Jorge Berea tallied seven pars across the front nine and responded from a double bogey by recording three birdies in his final seven holes. 
  • Christian Munoz ended the first round five-over and added a pair of birdies on the back nine. 
  • Ivan Ponsdomenech tallied seven pars across the front nine and added a birdie on the back nine, closing the day six-over.

Three Sharks garner All-SSC recognition

MELBOURNE, Fla. – The Sunshine State Conference announced the 2025 all-conference and specialty awards for men’s golf on Thursday afternoon. Three Sharks were recognized by the league, as Bruno Marques and Jorge Berea were named to the first-team and Elias Mardeni earned third-team honors. Marques also was recognized as the SSC Freshman of the Year.  

Marques becomes the seventh NSU Men’s Golfer to be recognized as the Freshman of the Year – the first since Josep Serra (2022) – and earns first-team all-league recognition. Marques, the 19th ranked golfer in the South Region, holds a 71.6 scoring average and has earned three top 10 finishes during the 2024-25 season.  

Jorge Berea earns the first All-Conference recognition of his career and has earned three top ten finishes during his sophomore season. Berea’s best tournament of his career came at the Saint Leo Invitational, in which he shot seven-under and earned a third place finish. Berea also added a fourth place finish at the Sunshine State Conference championship.  

Mardeni was recognized to the third-team All-Sunshine State Conference. The freshman owns a 72.2 scoring average and has earned three top 19t15 finishes in his first collegiate season.
