#1 NSU Wins Peggy Kirk Bell Invitational

ORLANDO, Fla. – The top-ranked Nova Southeastern Sharks Women’s Golf team continues their dominant 2023-24 season, as the Sharks won their fourth event of the campaign, capturing the victory at the Peggy Kirk Bell Invitational. No. 1 NSU (+61/316/304/305) won the event by four strokes over Sunshine State Conference rival Barry. Mei Chen (5th/80/73/77), Ellen Andersson (T6th/79/79/73) and Jimena Marques (T8/81/76/75) all finished inside the top-10 during the tournament.

How it Happened

  • Mei Chen led the Sharks during the tournament, finishing inside the top-five. Chen recorded four birdies in the final round, ending Tuesday’s action with a 77.  
  • Ellen Andersson (T6) also posted a top-10 finish for Nova Southeastern, finishing the tournament with her best round on Tuesday. Andersson tallied five birdies on the day and added nine pars, ending the day with a 73. 
  • Jimena Marques (T8) added her best day of the tournament, recording a par on 7-of-9 holes on the front-nine, including five consecutive. Marques closed the round with four pars over the final five holes, adding a birdie on 17.  
  • Maia Samuelsson finished the tournament ranked inside the top-20, tying for 15th place.  
  • Ellen Ramstedt also added a top-20 finish for the Sharks. Ramstedt parred the first five holes on the day, before closing the round with back-to-back birdies.

#1 Sharks Tied for lead at Peggy Kirk Bell Invitational

ORLANDO, Fla. – The top-ranked Nova Southeastern Women’s Golf team began play at the Peggy Kirk Bell Invitational on Monday morning. Nova Southeastern (+44/316/304) is tied for first-place with Sunshine State Conference rival Barry. Indivually, Maia Samuelsson (T5/+9/77/76), Mei Chan (T5/+9/80/73), and Jimena Marques (T10/+13/81/76) are all inside the top-10 following the first two rounds.

How it Happened

  • Mei Chan totaled nine pars in her opening round at the tournament and added four birdies, totaling a 73. 
  • In her second round, Chan finished with an 80, but recorded an eagle and 11 pars, ending the day inside the top-five. 
  • Maia Samuelsson parred each of her first five holes and closed the front-nine with another pair of pars. On the back-nine, Samuelsson tallied a pair of birdies and ended the round with a 76. 
  • During her second round, Samuelsson recorded seven birdies but also struggled with five double bogeys, ending the day with a 77. 
  • Jimena Marques totaled six pars across the front-nine and following the turn, parred 8-of-9 holes, finishing the round at 76. 
  • Marques ended the second round with nine pars and one birdie, posting an 81. 
  • Ellen Andersson added nine pars for the Sharks and ended the round at four-over. Andersson then added 11 pars, including seven consecutive, in her second round, ending the afternoon with a 79.
  • Ellen Ramstedt shot an 82 in the first round and an 80 in the second. Ramstedt totaled 16 pars on the day, adding three birdies.

#1 Sharks Place Sixth at Lynn Invitational

BOCA RATON, Fla. – The top-ranked Nova Southeastern Sharks Women’s Golf team completed play at the Lynn Invitational on Tuesday afternoon. Nova Southeastern (+32/290/305/301) placed sixth and Jimena Marques (+2/71/74/73) placed in a three-way tied for seventh place.

How it Happened
Jimena Marques began her final round with pars on each of the first nine holes, and totaled 15 in the round, finishing the day with a 73 (+1).
Ellen Andersson, starting the final round of the Lynn Invite on the back-nine, recorded pars on 3-of-4 holes – adding a birdie on 12 – and tallied a +3 on the back nine. Following the turn, Andersson birdied 3-of-four holes, shooting a 33 and ended the tournament at +6 and tied for 21st. 
Ellen Ramstedt totaled three birdies in her final round, finishing the tournament with a 77 in the final round and in a tie for 32nd
Maia Samuelsson ended the tournament in a tie for 34th, shooting a 79 on Tuesday. 
Hannah Mitterberger finished the Lynn Invitational with an 86 in the final round.

#1 Sharks Tee off at Lynn Invite

BOCA RATON, Fla. – The top-ranked Nova Southeastern Sharks Women’s Golf team tee’d off with the first two rounds of the Lynn Invite on Monday morning. The Sharks (+19/290/305) currently sit in eighth-place, with Jimena Marques (T9/+2/71/74), Maia Samuelsson (T25/+6/75/75) and Ellen Andersson (T25/+6/72/78) are inside the top-25.

How it Happened

  • In her first round, Jimena Marques parred 6-of-7 holes, adding a birdie, prior to the turn. On the back-nine, Marques added five more pars, and another pair of birdies, before closing out the round with three consecutive pars. 
  • Marques began her second round with three straight pars, before bogeying back-to-back holes, and closed the front-nine with another two pars. Following the turn, Marques totaled six pars and one birdie, ending her second round in 74 strokes (+2) and inside the top-10.
  • Maia Samuelsson started the tournament with a birdie on her first hole, then following a bogey, parred four consecutive holes. On the back-nine, Samuelsson tallied five pars and four bogeys, before closing the round out with a birdie. Samuelsson ended her first round with a 75 (+3). 
  • In her second round, Samuelsson accumulated 12 pars, two birdies, two bogeys and a double bogey, closing the day with another 75 (+3) and tied for 25th. 
  • Ellen Andersson totaled three birdies on the front-nine in her opening round and closed out the first round with five consecutive pars, shooting an even-par. 
  • In her second round, Andersson parred each of her first two holes and followed with two consecutive birdies. Andersson later totaled six more pars, another birdie, three bogeys, a double and triple bogey, closing the afternoon out with a 78 (+6) and tied for 25th.
  • Ellen Ramstedt recorded pars on eight consecutive holes, and on 10-of-12, to open the tournament. Ramstedt added a pair of birdies in her first round, shooting a 73 (+1).
  • Ramstedt began her second round with a birdie, followed by a pair of pars. Following the turn, Ramstedt tallied pars on 6-of-7 holes and ended the round with a 78 (+6), finishing the day in a tie for 29th (+7).
  • Hannah Mitterberger tallied a pair of birdies across the first four holes and closed the front-nine with five consecutive pars. On the back-nine, Mitterberger bogeyed three holes and ended the round with a 74 (+2).
  • Mitterberger shot an 80 in her second round, ending Monday tied for 45th (+10).

#1 Sharks Win Lady Moc Classic

LAKELAND, Fla. – The top-ranked Nova Southeastern Sharks Women’s Golf team earned their third team win of the 2023-24 season, earning the victory at the Lady Moc Classic on Tuesday from the Grasslands Golf and Country Club. The Sharks shot 882 (291/297/294) as a team to finish at +18, while both Hannah Mitterberger (T4/+3) and Ellen Andersson (7th/+4) placed inside the top-10 at the tournament.

  • Hannah Mitterberger continued her exceptional performance at the Lady Moc Golf Classic in her second and third rounds of action. Mitterberger parred four-of-six holes, adding a pair of birdies, to begin her secound round. Following the turn, Mitterberger added five more pars, and another birdie on the back-nine. She closed the round at an even-par. 
  • In her final round, Mitterberger tallied nine pars and three birdies in her final round, finishing the tournament in a tie for fourth place (+3).
  • Ellen Andersson began her second round with five consecutive pars, before adding a birdie. Andersson closed the second round with five pars in her final six holes. In her final round, Anderson started with a birdie and parred each of the next seven holes. Andersson finished the tournament with a pair of birdies and four pars, ending in seventh-place (+4).
  • Maia Samuelsson totaled two birdies in her second round and added 11 pars. In her final round, Samuelsson opened with three birdies and added seven pars across the first ten holes. She closed the round with another three consecutive pars and finished the tournament in a tie for 11th place (+6).
  • Jimena Marques totaled four birdies and 21 pars across her final two rounds, ending the tournament in a tie for 27th (+8).
  • Lua Pousa Dacasa (T53rd/+14) and Haruka Muta (T68th/+21) combined for 10 birdies in the second and third rounds.
