#19 Sharks begin play at NCAA Regional Tournament

HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. – The 19th ranked Nova Southeastern Sharks Men’s Golf team began play at the NCAA South/Southeast Regional on Thursday afternoon. After the first round, NSU (+6/294) sits in 12th place. Elias Mardeni (-3/69) ended the first round tied for second place in individual competition, two strokes off the individual lead.

How it Happened

  • After bogeying the second hole of the tournament, Elias Mardeni recorded three consecutive birdies before closing the front nine with four straight pars. Mardeni maintained the momentum following the turn, adding another four consecutive pars. Mardeni tallied two more birdies on the back nine, closing the day three-under and tied for second place. 
  • Bruno Marques (+2/74) recorded three birdies and 10 pars in his opening round of play. 
  • Jorge Berea tallied seven pars across the front nine and responded from a double bogey by recording three birdies in his final seven holes. 
  • Christian Munoz ended the first round five-over and added a pair of birdies on the back nine. 
  • Ivan Ponsdomenech tallied seven pars across the front nine and added a birdie on the back nine, closing the day six-over.
