FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — The #15 NSU Sharks returned home and battled Eckerd College to a 1-1 draw on Saturday evening, their second tie of the season. The Sharks fell behind early but were aggressive late and continued generating chances out in front, and got a clutch goal from sophomore Genesis Hernandez. Hernandez recorded eight total shots, which was more than a third of the team’s 22 total shots, and the Tritons recorded nine total shots.

- Early in the first half, Eckerd’s Nadia Buist got past the Shark defense for the first goal of the game at the 14:44 mark. Neither team was able to strike again before the halftime, and the Tritons held on to a 1-0 lead.
- With the clock ticking down and after having generated multiple chances, Hernandez finally broke through, tying the game 1-1 on an assist from Sofia Suarez at the 88:06 mark. Hernandez’ goal was her fifth of the season, and the last of the game for either team.
With the win, the Sharks move to 5-0-2, with a 1-0-2 mark in conference play. NSU will take the field again on Wednesday, October 1st at 7pm when they host Edward Waters University for Senior Night.
