 NEW ORLEANS, La. – The U.S. Track & Field and Cross-Country Coaches’ Association (USTFCCCA) released the 2021 NCAA Division II Men’s Cross Country Regional Preseason Rankings on Tuesday afternoon. Nova Southeastern was ranked 10th in the South Region.  

NSU also began the 2019 season with the 10th ranking in the USTFCCCA South Region Preseason poll. Joining the Sharks in the South Region rankings are Sunshine State Conference rivals Embry-Riddle, Florida Southern, Saint Leo, and Tampa.  

Nova Southeastern, led by Head Coach Bryan Hagopian, begins the 2021 regular season on Sat., Sept. 4 in West Palm Beach as the Sharks race against the Sailfish of Palm Beach Atlantic at 7:30 a.m.

MELBOURNE, Fla. – The Sunshine State Conference released the men’s cross country preseason coaches’ poll on Wednesday afternoon, selecting Embry-Riddle as the favorite in 2021. The Eagles received five-of-eight first place votes and 47 points. 

The Sharks, tabbed for seventh in the preseason poll, begin the 2021 season with a race at St. Thomas (Fla.) on Sat., Aug. 28, in Miami Gardens, Fla. 

Florida Southern (39 points) was picked second, earning one first place vote, while Saint Leo (38) and Lynn (33) each received one of the final two first place selections. Palm Beach Atlantic (23), Lynn (22), Nova Southeastern (15), and Florida Tech (7) rounded out the second half of the ranking.  

Last season, the SSC Championship was moved from the fall semester to February due to concerns over COVID-19. ERAU claimed the conference title at PBA’S Rinker Athletic Campus in West Palm Beach, earning the program’s third league championship in four years. Florida Southern finished second, while Tampa placed third.  

Florida Southern hosts the 2021 Sunshine State Conference Men’s & Women’s Cross-Country Championships on Sat., Oct. 23 at Holloway Park in Lakeland. Saint Leo will host the regional championship in November and the National Championship at the Abbey Course.
