WINTER PARK, Fla. – The #15 ranked NSU Softball team dropped their series opener against the Rollins Tars on Friday night from MLK Stadium, snapping their 12-game win streak.

BOT 1st – The Tars struck first, taking the early 1-0 lead.
BOT 2nd – Rollins tacked on another run to extend their lead to 2-0.
TOP 5th – The Sharks were able to get the bases loaded but the Tars got out of the inning without allowing an NSU run.
Nova Southeastern continued to battle valiantly but were unable to complete the comeback dropping tonight’s SSC matchup against Rollins 2-0.
NSU will be back tomorrow to complete the SSC series against the Tars in a doubleheader at 10:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m.

Justin Wachs blasted his second home run of the season in the bottom of the first inning, quickly giving NSU a 1-0 lead.
Following a single by Henry Wallen, Boris Pena launched his fourth home run of the season, extending the Sharks advantage to 3-0.
Rollins responded with a three runs in the top of the second inning.
NSU added three more runs in the bottom of the second inning, as after Zeth Rodriguez worked a walk and Wachs was hit by a pitch, Wallen singled through the left-side of the infield and drove in Rodriguez.
Wachs later scored on a wild pitch and the Sharks capped off the three-run frame with a RBI groundout from Bryan Loriga, putting the score at 6-3.
That was all the offense Rothermel needed, throwing four consecutive shutout innings, earning both a quality start and his fourth victory of the season.
Keyler Gonzalez earned the first save of his collegiate career, tossing three shutout innings and striking out three.

MELBOURNE, Fla. – The Sunshine State Conference announced the 2023-24 All-SSC Men’s and Women’s Swimming teams on Thursday afternoon. Overall, 15 Nova Southeastern Sharks were recognized with the honor, including nine All-SSC First-Team selections.
Lowy has repeated as an All-SSC First-Team recipient for the third consecutive season, becoming the 13th SSC women’s swimmer to earn three or more First Team accolades in a career. Ronningdal earns her second career All-SSC First-Team honor following last season, in which, she was crowned the 2022-23 Freshman of the Year. Raurich and Williams earn their first honors.
Alessandrini and Peristeridis add a second First-Team selection to their career, while Marina and Snitko earn their first career nod. Flower is recognized for the second time in his career, being named to the 2022-23 Second-Team, while Henriksen earns his first honor with the selection to the Second-Team.
Nova Southeastern Shark Men’s and Women’s swimmers will represent the programs at the NCAA National Championships from March 12-16 in Geneva, Ohio.

The NCAA Division II Men’s and Women’s Swimming and Diving Committee announced the qualifiers for the 2024 NCAA Division II Men’s and Women’s Swimming and Diving Championships. The championships will be held March 12-16 in Geneva, Ohio.

The No. 3 ranked NSU Women’s Swimming team earned the program’s fourth consecutive Sunshine State Conference title at the recent conference meet in Ocala, Florida. The women’s team looks to repeat as NCAA Champions, while the men’s team looks to capture its first.

TAMPA, Fla. – Fresh off being re-named the top-ranked team in NCAA Division II, and claiming the program’s third consecutive Sunshine State Conference regular season title, the No. 1 Nova Southeastern Sharks Men’s Basketball team defeated the Tampa Spartans 103-69 on Wednesday evening from the Bob Martinez Center in SSC action. Ryker Cisarik led the Sharks in the effort, recording his second double-double of the season by tying his season-high with 20 points and grabbed 10 rebounds.

First Half – The Sharks opened the game on an 8-2 run, as Shane Hunter, Ryker Cisarik, and Isaiah Fuller each recorded buckets in the opening minutes. A brief run by the Spartans was halted by a three-point bucket from Mike Moore, putting the score at 11-8. An and-one bucket by MJ Iraldi, followed by a Cisarik three-pointer, extended the Nova Southeastern advantage to 27-21 near the midway point of the opening half. A 13-2 run by the Sharks, spanning three minutes of game action, put the score at 37-23 in favor of NSU. Both teams traded baskets back-and-forth for the remainder of the first half, but the Sharks were able to steal some momentum in the final minutes, as Ryan Walsh knocked down a three-pointer and Ryan Davis closed the opening half with a steal and a fast-break layup to beat the buzzer and sent Nova Southeastern into halftime leading 52-38.
Second Half – Iraldi and Fuller got the Sharks on the board first in the second half with a pair of fast-break buckets set up by blocks by Hunter. A pair of free throws by Tampa put the score at 64-53, the Sharks slimmest margin for the remainder of the game, but a three-point bucket by Iraldi pushed NSU ahead by 14. An Alex Mangold three-pointer, followed by a jumper by GianFranco Grafals, gave Nova Southeastern a 76-55 lead at the midway point of the second half. NSU closed the game with a 27-14 run over the final nine minutes, finishing out the 103-69 victory over the Spartans.

The No. 1 Nova Southeastern Sharks conclude their regular season on Saturday, March 2nd, with the final Sunshine State Conference regular season game of the 2023-24 campaign against Saint Leo at the Rick Case Arena. Prior to the game, Nova Southeastern Athletics will honor the senior class of Isaiah Fuller, Shane Hunter, Trey Doomes, GianFranco Grafals and Mike Moore.
TAMPA, Fla. – The #11 ranked NSU women’s basketball team’s 20-game win streak ended Wednesday night at the Bob Martinez Athletics Center, falling to the #16 ranked Tampa Spartans. India Shepherd poured in a career-high 20 points to lead the Sharks.

First Half – The Spartans came out hot, scoring the first nine points to take the early lead. Nicole Scales would then knock down three consecutive three-pointers to tie the match at nine apiece. In the ensuing possession, Kyarrah Grant came down and made a three-pointer of her own to put the Sharks up three. Both teams continued to battle as Tampa held on to a two-point advantage heading into the second quarter. UT went on a 14-0 run to kick off the second quarter, taking a 32-16 lead. NSU clawed their way back, cutting their deficit to nine going into the break.
Second Half – NSU came out aggressive, going on a 12-2 run capped off by a three-pointer from Shepherd to go ahead 39-37. The rest of the quarter featured a back-and-forth affair with the Sharks holding on to a one-point lead heading into the final frame. After the Spartans pushed ahead by five points with 1:20 left to play, a layup by Morgan Kane brought NSU within three points. The Sharks hunkered down defensively and got a stop before Shepherd came down and made a last-second three-pointer to force overtime. Nova held on to a three-point lead with 1:56 left to play in overtime but UT stormed back and secured the 76-74 victory, snapping the Sharks 20 game win streak.
Nova Southeastern will head back to the Rick Case Arena on March 2nd to close out the regular season against Saint Leo. NSU will also honor five seniors before the game, tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
MIAMI SHORES, Fla. – The Nova Southeastern Sharks Baseball team took on the Barry Buccaneers in non-conference action on Tuesday evening from Feinbloom Field. NSU was defeated 8-5 by their Sunshine State Conference foes.

Nova Southeastern quickly jumped out to a 1-0 lead as Henry Wallen drove in Justin Wachs with a sacrifice fly in the top of the first inning.
Barry plated a pair of runs in the bottom half the inning, taking a 2-1 lead over NSU.
The Buccaneers added two more runs on an RBI double, but Wachs and Zeth Rodriguez cut down a third run at the plate with a perfectly executed relay.
In the bottom of the third inning, the Bucs were able to plate another run, capitalizing on a Sharks error and putting the score at 5-1.
After making an impact on the game from the defensive side of the ball, Zeth Rodriguez made a larger impact offensively. After Bryan Loriga, Ryan Cainzos and Jorge Braceras all reached base, Rodriguez unloaded the bases with a grand slam and tied the game at 5-5.
Barry reclaimed the lead in the bottom half of the inning, scoring in the bottom half of the inning.
The Buccaneers plated two more runs, putting the score at 8-5, and closed out the win.

Jimena Marques began her final round with pars on each of the first nine holes, and totaled 15 in the round, finishing the day with a 73 (+1). Ellen Andersson, starting the final round of the Lynn Invite on the back-nine, recorded pars on 3-of-4 holes – adding a birdie on 12 – and tallied a +3 on the back nine. Following the turn, Andersson birdied 3-of-four holes, shooting a 33 and ended the tournament at +6 and tied for 21st. Ellen Ramstedt totaled three birdies in her final round, finishing the tournament with a 77 in the final round and in a tie for 32nd Maia Samuelsson ended the tournament in a tie for 34th, shooting a 79 on Tuesday. Hannah Mitterberger finished the Lynn Invitational with an 86 in the final round.

BOCA RATON, Fla. – The top-ranked Nova Southeastern Sharks Women’s Golf team tee’d off with the first two rounds of the Lynn Invite on Monday morning. The Sharks (+19/290/305) currently sit in eighth-place, with Jimena Marques (T9/+2/71/74), Maia Samuelsson (T25/+6/75/75) and Ellen Andersson (T25/+6/72/78) are inside the top-25.

In her first round, Jimena Marques parred 6-of-7 holes, adding a birdie, prior to the turn. On the back-nine, Marques added five more pars, and another pair of birdies, before closing out the round with three consecutive pars.
Marques began her second round with three straight pars, before bogeying back-to-back holes, and closed the front-nine with another two pars. Following the turn, Marques totaled six pars and one birdie, ending her second round in 74 strokes (+2) and inside the top-10.
Maia Samuelsson started the tournament with a birdie on her first hole, then following a bogey, parred four consecutive holes. On the back-nine, Samuelsson tallied five pars and four bogeys, before closing the round out with a birdie. Samuelsson ended her first round with a 75 (+3).
In her second round, Samuelsson accumulated 12 pars, two birdies, two bogeys and a double bogey, closing the day with another 75 (+3) and tied for 25th.
Ellen Andersson totaled three birdies on the front-nine in her opening round and closed out the first round with five consecutive pars, shooting an even-par.
In her second round, Andersson parred each of her first two holes and followed with two consecutive birdies. Andersson later totaled six more pars, another birdie, three bogeys, a double and triple bogey, closing the afternoon out with a 78 (+6) and tied for 25th.
Ellen Ramstedt recorded pars on eight consecutive holes, and on 10-of-12, to open the tournament. Ramstedt added a pair of birdies in her first round, shooting a 73 (+1).
Ramstedt began her second round with a birdie, followed by a pair of pars. Following the turn, Ramstedt tallied pars on 6-of-7 holes and ended the round with a 78 (+6), finishing the day in a tie for 29th (+7).
Hannah Mitterberger tallied a pair of birdies across the first four holes and closed the front-nine with five consecutive pars. On the back-nine, Mitterberger bogeyed three holes and ended the round with a 74 (+2).
Mitterberger shot an 80 in her second round, ending Monday tied for 45th (+10).

KEARNEY, NE. – The second-ranked Nova Southeastern Sharks Women’s Team’s run to the ITA Indoor National Championship was ended on Sunday evening, as the Sharks were defeated 4-2 by No. 1 Barry on Sunday evening from the Ernest Grundy Tennis Center.

Singles Alexandra Weir earned a point for the Sharks, defeating Alloiarova Dinara 7(7) – 6(1), 7-5 Ita Habekovic added another victory for the Sharks, beating Maia Haumuller 6-4, 6-1.
No. 2 Nova Southeastern returns to action on Sunday, March 3rd, taking on the University of Charleston in Orlando, Fla., at the USTA National Campus. First serve is set for 12 p.m.
