#3 Women’s Swim Holds Lead Heading Into Last Day of NCAA Championships

GENEVA, OH. – Day four at the NCAA Division II Swimming & Diving National Championships was completed on Friday evening from the SPIRE Aquatic Center. The #3 Nova Southeastern Sharks Women’s Swim team continues to have a hold on first place, sitting at the top with 381 points. Emily Trieschmann won her fourth NCAA National title at this year’s event, taking home the 500 Freestyle crown. Rafaela Raurich collected her third championship of the event, winning the 200 Fly.

How it Happened
(Women’s)

  • Emily Trieschmann started the day by collecting her fourth national championship at this year’s event. She took home the title in the 500 Freestyle with a time of 4:44.60. Coming in third was Hailey Williams, who finished with a time of 4:47.76. Then rounding out the podium, Ilaria Murzilli placed eighth with a time of 4:56.17.
  • Mollie Morfelt placed eighth in the 100 Backstroke with a time of 55.48.
  • In the 200 Fly, Rafaela Raurich secured the national championship with a time of 1:56.17, setting a new SSC and NSU record. Coming in seventh was May Lowy, who finished the event with a time of 2:00.27.

How it Happened
(Men’s)

  • Luca Alessandrini took fifth in the 500 Freestyle with a time of 4:21.25.
  • In the 100 Breaststroke, Inigo Marina placed fifth with a time of 52.95.

What's Next
The Sharks return to pool in Geneva, OH on March 16th for the final day of the NCAA Swimming and Diving National Championships. Events scheduled for day five include 1650 Freestyle, 100 Freestyle, 200 Backstroke, 200 Breaststroke, and 400 Freestyle Relay. Prelims begin at 10:00AM, followed by the finals at 5:30PM.
