FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The No. 24 ranked Nova Southeastern women’s soccer team (10-3-1, 7-3-0 SSC) kicks off postseason play at home on Monday, November 6th, taking on the 6th-seeded Florida Southern Mocs (8-6-3, 4-4-2 SSC) in the SSC Quarterfinals.
Kickoff is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. at the NSU Soccer Stadium.
The 3rd-seeded Sharks are looking to carry their impressive play into the SSC Tournament, finishing the regular season with a 10-3-1 record, the best record since the 2019 regular season. NSU has also climbed to as high as #16 in the United Soccer Coaches Poll during the regular season. Not to mention, the Sharks offense has been on a tear in 2023, averaging 2.4 goals per game, which ranks second in the SSC.
NSU enters the tournament on a two-game winning streak, holding their last two opponents scoreless in those games.
Luana Grabias, Tabea Schütt, and Stefane Rosa have been the three-headed force for NSU. Grabias, last year’s SSC Player of the Year, has led NSU offensively, scoring a team lead of 10 goals, which ranks third in the conference. Schütt has also been dominant on the offensive side of the ball, ranking second on the team with seven goals, which also places her in the top 10 in the SSC in terms of goals scored. Rosa has been the catalyst for the Sharks impressive defense all season long. In nine starts, Rosa has held seven teams scoreless while also accumulating 31 saves during that time span . The senior currently has the highest saves percentage in the SSC (.912) and ranks third in the league in total shutouts (7).
NSU defeated Florida Southern 3-0 at the NSU Soccer Stadium earlier in the season. Schütt was the difference maker, scoring three goals in the SSC victory.
The winner of this go-around will advance to Thursday’s SSC Tournament semifinal at Embry-Riddle University.
