GRAND HAVEN, MI. – Nova Southeastern Men’s Golf, the reigning NCAA Division II National Champion, tee off the 2023 season on Monday, September 11th. The Sharks enter the season ranked second in the Bushnell/Golfweek DII Coaches’ Poll, earning four first place votes.
NSU is one of three teams earning four first place votes – Oklahoma Christian and Anderson (SC) – and the Sharks only rank behind Sunshine State Conference foe, Barry.
Nova Southeastern begins the 2023-24 campaign at the National Preview on September 11th and 12th from the Orange County National Golf Course. NSU hosts its annual Shark Invitational from the Grande Oakes Golf Club on October 2nd and 3rd. Nova Southeastern wraps up its fall schedule with the Copperhead Championship, hosted by West Florida, on October 23rd and 24th and at the Citrus Intercollegiate Invitational on October 30th and 31st.
“I am excited to get the season going this fall with some great tournaments and course venues. It will be a great test to start off with us playing the national championship site for this year at Orange County,” stated Head Coach Joey Marino. “We follow that up with hosting a great field at the Shark Invitational at Grande Oaks, followed by the opportunity to play Copperhead at Innisbrook a PGA tour site. The last event of the fall is at the champions gate resort and by the end of the fall season we should have a good idea of how we stack up as a team. I am really looking forward to seeing how the guys play to start the year and grow as we continue into the spring.”
The Sharks return to action in February, competing at the Matlock Collegiate Classic, hosted by Florida Southern, on February 5th and 6th. NSU continues at the Saint Leo Invitational from February 19th and 20th. The final three regular season tournaments for Nova Southeastern consists of the First Federal Southeastern Challenge (Valdosta State) on March 11-12th, the Bobcat Invitational (Georgia College & State University) on March 18-19th, and “The Battle at the Shores,” (Barry) on April 1-2nd.
The Sunshine State Conference Tournament begins on April 21st, hosted by Lynn, and then Nova Southeastern will compete in the NCAA South/Southeast in Gainesville, GA., from May 7th to the 11th. The NCAA National Championships will be held in Winter Garden, Fla., from May 19th through the 25th.
