NORMAN, Okla. – The Golf Coaches’ Association of America announced the 2023 NCAA Division II Men’s Golf Division II PING All-Region honorees on Friday morning. Michael Hay, Joseba Torres and Will O’Neill received the honors.
The trio makes up part of the twelve men’s golf student-athletes that were recognized from the South region, seven of which are representatives of Sunshine State Conference programs.
Hay, a senior, currently ranks 11th in the south region and had an average score of 71.36 across 11 tournaments during the 2022-23 season. Hay had five top-10 finishes on the campaign, including a third place finish at the State Conference Championships.
Joseba Torres, the ninth-ranked golfer in the south region and 25th in NCAA Division II, held an average of 71.67 in 10 tournaments. Torres placed inside the top-12 in six consecutive tournaments, spanning from October 31, 2022, until April 4, 2023.
O’Neill, a graduate transfer from Georgetown, was incredible during the 2022-23 campaign for the sixth0ranked Sharks, finishing inside the top-10 at six events and won the NSU Shark Invitational in November 2022. O’Neill has finished in third place at the Sunshine State Conference Championship and eighth at the NCAA D2 South/Southeast Regional.
The Nova Southeastern Men’s Golf team will compete at the NCAA Division II National Championship from the Avalon Lakes Golf Club in Warren, Ohio. The tournament begins on Monday, May 22.
