Sharks Take Down The Lions in Four Sets

SAINT LEO, FLA. – The Nova Southeastern Sharks took care of business in Saint Leo on Friday night. The Sharks took the SSC victory over the Lions 3-1 (25-23, 25-19, 24-26, 25-11).

HOW IT HAPPENED

· After starting the first set down 3-10, the Sharks went on a four-point run to get them back within three. The run featured kills from Cambry Pope, Olivia Aniol, and Taylor Stockman.

· NSU later forced the Lions to take a timeout after going on a big six-point run to give the Sharks a 14-12 lead. The run saw blocks from Olivia Aniol and Nyah Pacely, as well as a kill from Kate Mihacevich.

· The Sharks took a commanding 24-21 lead after a five-point run, which came from kills by Taylor Stockman and Cambry Pope, as well as a service ace from Aleyna Kennel.

· NSU claimed a 25-23 set one victory after a kill from Cambry Pope.

· The Sharks started the second set with the same energy they finished the first set with by going on an eight-point run to take an early 12-5 lead. The run saw two kills from Cambry Pope, two service aces from Aleyna Kennel, and blocks by Cambry Pope and Olivia Aniol.

· Kills from Taylor Stockman and Cambry Pope, blocks from Cambry Pope and Olivia Aniol, and a service ace from Jordan Chessar gave the Sharks a 23-16.

· After an attack error by the Lions, the Sharks were able to secure the set two victory, 25-19.

· Double trouble from Nyah Pacely and Cambry Pope as they both recorded back-to-back kills followed by a combo block to bring the Sharks within one in set three.

· Kills from Cambry Pope, Olivia Aniol, and Kate Mihacevich, and a service ace from Aleyna Kennel brought the Sharks back into set three, tying it at 24-24. Unfortunately, the Lions ultimately ended up winning the set 26-24.

· After an eight-point run late in set four, the Sharks were in great position to secure the set and match victory. The run featured kills from Taylor Stockman and Cambry Pope, blocks from Taylor Stockman, Olivia Aniol, and Cambry Pope, and a service ace from Jordan Chessar.

· After a solo block from Olivia Aniol, NSU was able to secure the 25-11 set four victory, and the match victory.

STATS OF THE MATCH

· Cambry Pope (14 kills) and Kate Mihacevich (13) led the team in kills.

· Nyah Pacely recorded 36 assists in the match.

· Olivia Aniol (7 blocks) and Cambry Pop (5) led the team in blocks.

The Sharks are back in action on Saturday evening at 4:00pm as they travel to Melbourne, Florida to take on the Florida Tech Panthers.
