HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • NSU produced more quality scoring chances in the early going, yet it was the Eagles finding the back of the net first in the 31st minute after Isabelle Navren’s corner kick attempt was knocked in by Ragnheidur Gardarsdottir.
  • The Sharks would answer, though, a mere 3:07 later when Lily Truong recorded her first goal in an NSU uniform after converting a feed from Chama Silva.
  • A save late in the half by NSU keeper Shannon Hearty sent both sides into intermission knotted up at 1-1.
  • Still even in the 69th minute, ERAU’s Allie McMandon did the work herself, weaving her way through a couple NSU defenders before burying a shot into the right corner of the net to hand the Eagles a 2-1 advantage.
  • Dejah Holman nearly provided the equalizer in the 79th minute, only to watch ERAU’s Oona Jokinen make an outstanding save. Adding insult to injury, ERAU would add some insurance just over three minutes later, extending its lead to 3-1.
  • Truong missed her second goal of the night by just inches in the 83rd minute, ricocheting a shot attempt off the crossbar.
  • Awarded a free kick in the 85th minute, Silva dodged the ERAU wall, cutting the deficit in half thanks to her fourth goal of the season.
  • NSU would come up empty-handed in the final moments, as the Eagles preserved the 3-2 victory.
