FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Every Meter Matters, Row for a Cure is an annual cancer awareness coming into it’s seventh year! This event is hosted by the NSU Rowing Foundation and all of its proceeds have been donated to nonprofit pediatric cancer organizations. Although the rowing team is currently not active, this fundraiser is near and dear to all of NSU Rowing’s Alumni hearts and so, for the seventh year in a row, we have chosen to support Curing Kids Cancer.
Every 33 minutes, a child in the U.S is diagnosed with cancer. Sadly, more children die from cancer than any other disease, yet childhood cancer research receives less than four percent of government funding. Curing Kids Cancer seeks to impact pediatric cancer in a significant way by funding cutting-edge research that will advance scientific knowledge and bring promising innovative therapies to children, forging breakthroughs in treatments for childhood cancers.
While the fundraiser may look different this year, now, more than ever, foundations like this one need the support of people just like you.

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Nova Southeastern University has announced it will suspend the women’s rowing program indefinitely starting with the 2020-21 academic year. The institution will continue to sponsor 16 NCAA Division II sports, including 14 within the Sunshine State Conference.
Statement from Director of Athletics Michael Mominey
“It is an understatement to say that this was very difficult decision for all involved. We are also mindful and empathetic of the consequences that this decision has and will have. Our focus right now is the current student-athletes, the alums and the staff who have been directly affected. The student-athletes and coaches who have represented NSU rowing since the inception of the program, have been true ambassadors, true leaders and true champions of the university who will always be celebrated within the NSU Athletics family.”
The university and NSU Department of Athletics will honor the athletic scholarships for all current women’s rowing student-athletes through the completion of their undergraduate degree.
