Torres Finishes Top-Five at NCAA National Championship

WINTER GARDEN, Fla. – Joseba Torres concluded his NCAA National Championship tournament with his third consecutive round under-par. Torres (-5/69/69/70) finished tied for fifth at the national championship and was the highest placing individual representative in the field of 105 student-athletes. 

Torres began his final round with a pair of pars, before birdieing two-of-three holes. He finished the front-nine with four straight pars, posting a 34 (-1) across the first nine holes. Following the turn, Torres added another four consecutive pars, before adding a pair of birdies across his final five holes.

Torres ends the NCAA National Championship with the second lowest scoring average on par fours (3.94/-2), held an average of 4.67/-3 on par fives, and recorded 15 birdies across all three rounds of competition.

WINTER GARDEN, Fla. – Joseba Torres, representing Nova Southeastern Men’s Golf as an individual, put together a second consecutive solid round at the NCAA National Championship tournament on Wednesday. Torres (T5/-4/69/69) is tied for fifth place, five strokes off the lead in the field of 105 student-athletes.

How it Happened

  • Joseba Torres began his round with three straight pars, before tallying birdies on four of his next six holes to finish the front-nine and recorded a 33. 
  • Following the turn, Torres opened with pars on four-of-six holes, before closing the round with back-to-back birdies.
  • Torres totaled six birdies in the final round, moving into the top-five of the tournament and just five strokes off the individual title. 
  • Through two rounds, Torres is fourth among the field with 11 birdies.

Torres opens NCAA Tournament with strong performance

WINTER GARDEN, Fla. – Joseba Torres, representing Nova Southeastern Men’s Golf as an individual, began play at the NCAA Division II National Championship tournament at the Orange County National Golf Center on Tuesday morning. Torres (-2) finished the first round of action tied for 12th in the field of 108 student-athletes.

How it Happened

  • Torres began his round with a bogey on the first hole but settled in with a pair of pars and a birdie over his next three holes. 
  • Torres tallied another bogey, his second of the afternoon, on hole five. He followed with three consecutive pars and closed the front-nine with a birdie on nine. 
  • Torres opened the back-nine with back-to-back pars on 10 and 11. 
  • After bogeying on 12, Torres closed the round with three pars and three birdies across his final six holes, finishing the day at two-under and tied for 12th place.
