
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Nova Southeastern University Athletic programs and student-athletes have continued to uphold the standard of academic excellence during the 2025 winter semester. NSU student-athletes achieved the highest winter semester departmental grade-point average (3.49) to date, the 30th consecutive semester with a departmental GPA above 3.00 and the 12th consecutive semester with a GPA higher than 3.25.
Dr. Deanna Rivero, Manager of Athletic Academic Services for Nova Southeastern University, plays a pivotal role in coordinating the academic support and success initiatives for the Department of Athletics and its student-athletes. Reflecting on the continued achievements of NSU student-athletes, Dr. Rivero stated, “The dedication demonstrated by our student-athletes to both academic and athletic excellence is truly exceptional. I am immensely proud of the hard work and perseverance they exhibit in the classroom, consistently upholding the high standards of our department.”
She continued, “On behalf of the university administration and coaching staff, we extend our heartfelt congratulations to all student-athletes for their outstanding academic accomplishments. We especially recognize the 71 student-athletes who successfully completed their degrees and the 40 individuals who earned induction into the prestigious Chi Alpha Sigma Honor Society.”
During the 2025 winter semester, 87% of student-athletes earned a semester GPA of 3.00 or above – the highest to date, while 77% of student-athletes were recognized as scholar-athletes finishing the semester with a GPA above 3.25 – the highest to date. 119 student-athletes were recognized to the Director’s List, honoring those student-athletes who achieved a GPA higher than a 3.80 – the highest total to date. Additionally, 43 student-athletes earned a perfect 4.00 GPA.
For the 2024-25 academic year, NSU Athletics achieved the highest departmental grade-point average in history (3.50), reaching 23 consecutive years of a departmental GPA above 3.00, while also achieving 13 consecutive years above 3.14 and the fifth straight year of a departmental GPA higher than 3.40.
Four NSU Athletics programs – Men’s Basketball, Women’s Basketball, Women’s Soccer and Volleyball – achieved their highest overall semester grade-point average in program history, while the Women’s Tennis and Men’s Track & Field teams recorded their highest winter semester grade-point average in program history.
