#18 Sharks set to take on Barry in opening round of NCAA Tournament

Tampa, Fla. – The 18th-ranked Nova Southeastern Softball team returns to the NCAA Tournament for the fourth consecutive season, taking on the No. 5-seeded Barry Buccaneers in the first round of the NCAA South Regional Tournament.  First pitch is set for 3:00 PM EST at Naimoli Family Field in Tampa, Florida.

The Sharks are led by All-SSC selections Cassidy Duskin (First Team), Cassidy Patterson (First Team), Gracelyn Wallace (First Team), Gianna Russo (Second Team), Brenna Lokeinsky (Second Team & Defensive Team), and Abbey Moore (Second Team). Lokeinsky has been the leader of the Sharks offensive attack, as leads the Sharks in batting average (.384), doubles (12), home runs (4), triples (3), and RBIs (46), which places her in the top 10 in the SSC in several different categories. Wallace, the first team All-SSC selection is poised to be a problem for opposing batters this postseason. The right-handed pitcher leads the SSC in wins (21) while also ranking third in strikeouts (164). Duskin has also made an impact in the pitching circle as she helped lead the team to a 2.02 team ERA, ranking second in the league behind Tampa.   

Barry is led by SSC Freshman of the Year, Sarah Langlie. Langlie has made her presence felt in her first year as a Buc, leading the team in batting average (.406), runs (39), hits (69), doubles (17), and RBIs (45). All-SSC selections Caroline Figueroa, Sofia Chamorro, and Harper Bunn have also helped spearhead Barry’s offensive attack. In the pitching circle, the Bucs are led by Samantha Rosenberger and Alexis Martin who have a combined 19-9 W/L record.
