
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The Nova Southeastern men’s and women’s track teams are ready for the first-ever Sunshine State Conference Outdoor Track Championships. NSU has multiple contenders on both sides.
The first race is scheduled for 7:00 a.m.
On the men’s side, Jaime Blazquez, Phillip DiMarco, Keel Brossard, and Will Watson have been at the forefront of the Sharks’ attack. Phillip DiMarco leads the Nova Southeastern Men’s Track team as he is currently ranked third in the SSC in the 200 Meters (21.64) and second in the conference in the 400 Meters (47.86). Julian Granville is also ranked in the top five in the 400 meters, as he ranks 4th with a time of 48.27. Jaime Blazquez is currently ranked 2nd in the SSC in the 1500 Meters (3:50.18) and first in the SSC in the Mile race (4:19.99). Will Watson is also ranked fifth in the SSC in the Mile race (4:26.20).
Keel Brossard ranks sixth in the SSC in the 110 110-meter hurdles (15.97).
On the women’s side, comprised of Jillian Thorning, Leena Saidi, Sativa James, Bella Butler, Arianna Bittner, Bridget McGrath, Bella Ascone, Maggie Ragsdale, and Eden Toal leads Nova Southeastern to compete in the first Sunshine State Conference Outdoor Track Championship. Jillian Thorning, the SSC Runner of the Year in cross country, is coming into the SSC Championships ranked first in the conference in the mile (4:59.60) and the 1500 meters (4:37.68), and she is also the fourth-ranked runner in the 5000 meters (17:02.13). Jillian has also set school records for the 800 Meters and is ranked fourth in the SSC, running a time of 2:12.81. Leena Saidi is currently the fifth-ranked runner in the 10,000 Meters (38:15.06). Eden Toal, is looking to place in three different races in the upcoming meet, as she is currently ranked sixth in the 800 Meters (2:15.89), second in the 1500 Meters (4:37.68), and second in the mile(5:07.50). Sativa James is looking to make her mark in her first postseason meet, ranking third in the conference in the 200 meters (25.23) and third in the 400 meters 57.93). Bella Ascone ranks second in the league in the 3000-meter steeplechase (11:53.44), and Maggie Ragsdale is currently ranked fifth(12:38.22). Arianna Bittner will be representing NSU in the 400-meter hurdles as she comes into the meet ranked seventh (1:09.24). Bella Butler (2:14.09) is currently ranked fifth in the SSC in the 800 meters.
