#22 Sharks fall against Wingate

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The 22nd ranked Nova Southeastern Baseball team was defeated 11-3 by the Wingate Bulldogs in the finale of the four-game opening weekend homestand on Sunday afternoon at the NSU Baseball Complex.

How it Happened

  • Anthony Stinson got the Sharks on the board early, bringing in Xavier Moronta with a RBI groundout.
  • Matthew Corpas followed with an RBI base hit, driving in Jack Cue, as the Sharks took a 2-0 lead in the second inning,
  • Wingate cut the NSU lead in half with a sacrifice fly in the top of the third, putting the score at 2-1.
  • The Bulldogs plated three runs in the top of the fifth inning, taking a 4-2 lead over NSU. 
  • Corpas led off the bottom of the fifth inning with an inside-the-park home run, putting the score at 4-3.
  • Wingate totaled seven runs across the final two innings, beating the Sharks 11-3
