Late Comeback Propels Sharks to Series Sweep Over Lynn

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The Nova Southeastern Softball team earned their second consecutive SSC series sweep, taking down the Lynn Fighting Knights in a doubleheader on Saturday afternoon from the AD Griffin Sports Complex. Late game heroics from Alisha Lanyon propelled the Sharks to a thrilling game one victory, which was followed by a dominant 5-1 win in game two.

How it Happened

TOP 2nd – Gianna Russo kicked off the scoring action with a home run to center field.  

BOT 2nd – Lynn answered with a flurry of runs, taking a commanding 5-1 lead.  

TOP 4th – The Sharks comeback began as Maliyah Lawson hit an RBI single to right field to cut their deficit to three runs. 

TOP 6th – Lawson wasn’t done yet, earning another RBI with a double to left field, bringing the score to 5-3. 

TOP 7th – Russo earned her second RBI of the game, batting in Alexis Smith to bring the Sharks within one run. Shortly after, with two runners on base, Lanyon stepped up to the plate and batted in both runners, ultimately securing the 6-5 game-one victory for NSU.

How it Happened

BOT 3rd – Lynn got off to a hot start, hitting a home run to left field to take the early 1-0 lead. 

TOP 5th – With two runners on base, Alexis Smith joined the home run action, hitting her own three-run home run, putting the Sharks in front 3-1.  

BOT 6th – NSU would tack on another run off of an error by the Knights. Shortly after, a sacrifice fly from Alyssa Drogemuller put the fifth and final run on the board for the Sharks, securing the 5-1 victory over the Lynn Fighting Knights. 
 

What's Next

The Sharks will return to the field on Friday, May 3 for a home matchup with Barry at the AD Griffin Sports Complex in the last series of the regular season. First-pitch is scheduled for 5 p.m.
