#13 NSU In Second at the Battle at the Shores

MIAMI BEACH, Fla. – The 13th ranked Nova Southeastern Sharks Men’s Golf team currently sits just one stroke off the lead following two rounds at the Battle at the Shores through two rounds on Monday. NSU (-13/273/282) is in second place, while Jorge Berea (1st/-8/66/68) sits in the lead, while Mike Hay (T3/-6/67/69) is two strokes off the lead in third place.

How it Happened

  • Jorge Berea was locked in from his opening tee shot, recording a birdie on his first hole, before tallying a par on three of the following four holes before the turn. On the back-nine, Berea totaled four birdies and an eagle, before closing his first round with another pair of birdies to finish at 66. 
  • Berea totaled four more birdies across his second round, nearly going bogey-free, finishing Monday’s action in sole possession of first place. 
  • Mike Hay (T3) finished his first round with five birdies, finishing the opening round with a 67. Hay was bogey-free across the back-nine, totaling three birdies and six pars. 
  • Hay continued his solid performance with three birdies in his second round, adding 14 pars, ending the day inside the top-three in the standings. 
  • James Humphrires (T11) recorded four birdies in the first round and closed it with two birdies and four pars across his final four holes. 
  • Humphries added another five birdies in his second round, shooting a 69, and ending the day just outside the top-10 in the standings. 
  • Joseba Torres (T18) shot a bogey-free first round, totaling four birdies. Torres added another five birdies in his second round, but recorded four bogeys and a triple-bogey to finish with a 73. 
  • Ivan Ponsdomench (T50/+3), Will McGhie (T59/+50) and George Mills (T72/+8) also competed for the Sharks.
