NSU Drops Series Finale to Mocs

LAKE WORTH, Fla. – Nova Southeastern Baseball dropped the finale of the Sunshine State Conference series against the Florida Southern Moccasins on Sunday afternoon, losing 17-7.

How it Happened
Bottom of the Second – The first four Shark hitters – Kristian Noriega, Michael Uz, Derek Bermudez and Stephen Schissler – all reached base in the inning, as Schissler drove in a pair of runs to give NSU an early 2-0 lead.

Bottom of the Third – After Daniel Irisarri led off the inning with a single, Michael Uz drove him in with a sacrifice fly to extend Nova Southeastern’s lead to 3-0.

Top of the Fifth – Florida Southern rallied with two outs in the inning and scored two runs on a double and put the score at 3-2.

Top of the Sixth – The Mocs continued their momentum in their next at-bat, scoring four runs in the inning – including a two-run home run – and took a 6-3 lead over NSU.

Bottom of the Sixth – Schissler continued to produce at the plate and led off the frame with a solo home run. Following Ryan Cainzos reaching base, Adam Frank drilled a two-run home run and tied the game at 6-6.

Top of the Seventh – Florida Southern scored five runs in the top half of the inning, clubbing a pair of home runs, and led 11-6 over NSU.

Top of the Ninth – The Mocs scored six runs in the frame, adding another home run, and led 17-6 over the Sharks.

Bottom of the Ninth – Justin Wachs came into score on a wild pitch, but the comeback effort ended shortly thereafter, as NSU dropped the series finale to Florida Southern.

 What's Next
NSU travels to take on Lynn in a Sunshine State Conference series beginning on Friday, April 21. First pitch is set for 3 p.m.
