Sharks Earn Series Victory over Panthers

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla – Nova Southeastern Baseball took the victory in the finale of the three-game series against Davenport, winning 6-4 on Saturday afternoon from the NSU Baseball Complex.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Bottom of the Second – Derek Bermudez gave the Sharks a 1-0 lead with a two-out RBI single, driving in Kristian Noriega.

Top of the Third – Frank Ellisalt worked around a lead-off double, stranding the tying run at third base, and tallied 14 consecutive shutout innings at home.

Bottom of the Third – Duncan Pastore drove in Stephen Schissler, extending the Sharks lead to 2-0.

Top of the Fourth – The Panthers tied the game on a two-run double, putting the score at 2-2.

Top of the Fifth – Davenport added two more runs on another double, taking a 4-2 lead over NSU.

Bottom of the Fifth – Adam Frank cut into the Panthers lead with an RBI groundout, making the score 4-3.

Bottom of the Sixth – A throwing error by the Panthers pitcher allowed two runs to score for the Sharks, as NSU took a 5-4 lead over Davenport. Bermudez added his second RBI of the game, driving in Adam Smith on a sacrifice fly.

Top of the Ninth – Michael Dillon entered the game looking to record his second save of the season, and set down the Panthers in order, sealing the series win for NSU.

Nova Southeastern returns to Sunshine State Conference Play and will take on the Tampa Spartans in a three-game series beginning on Friday, March 24.
