NSU in Second Place Heading into Final Round at Hurricane Invitational

ALBANY, Ga. – The No. 8 Nova Southeastern Men’s Golf team began play at the Hurricane Invitational, from the Doublegate Country Club, on Monday afternoon. Through two rounds, the Sharks rank second (-4) as a team and are seven-strokes ahead of top-ranked Anderson (SC). Individually, Mike Hay (-4) is tied for second place and leads NSU.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Mike Hay got off to a strong start in round one, shooting -2 on the front nine. In round two, Hay caught fire and birdied 6 of the first 13 holes. At the end of two rounds, Hay (-3) is in second place overall.

Josep Serra had an incredible back nine in round one, recording birdies on holes 13-15 and par on holes 16-18. Serra continued his consistency in round two, hitting par or better on 16 of 18 holes. Tied for 7th place, Serra ended day one with a score of -2.

Joseba Torres (T-15) and Will O’Neill (T-35) both had strong round ones, each scoring under par. Torres (+1) had a double bogey and a bogey in round two and found himself

one shot over par at the end of day one. O’Neill had a pair of double bogeys and three bogeys that led to a +3 score after two rounds.

Emanuel Olofsson started slow in round one, recording bogeys on two of the first three holes. The senior bounced back and birdied holes 6 and 7, but ultimately shot +2 in the round. After a rough round two, Olofsson (+8) found himself tied for 65th place.

UPCOMING

No. 8 Nova Southeastern returns to the course on Tuesday, February 28. Tee off is scheduled for 8 a.m.
