Sharks Begin SSC Championships in Record-Setting Fashion

CLEARWATER, Fla. – It was a record-setting night for the Nova Southeastern Men’s and Women’s Swimming teams to begin the Sunshine State Conference Championships on Wednesday evening. The evening events was the 800 freestyle relay.

HOW IT HAPPENED – Women’s

  • The top-ranked Sharks began their Sunshine State title defense in dominant fashion, as Emilia Ronningdal, Ilaria Murzilli, May Lowy and Emily Trieschmann set a NSU, Sunshine State Conference and NCAA record with a time of 7:12.56. The group shattered their own overall conference, which was set on November 22, 2022,  record by over seven seconds.

HOW IT HAPPENED – Men’s

  • Thomas Flower, Jarryd Baxter, Gustav Henriksen and Luca Alessandrini set the NSU Men’s Swimming record in the 800 freestyle relay, placing second overall, with a time of 6:28.22.
  • Looking ahead to Thursday’s events, Flower posted a NSU and Sunshine State Conference record, posting a time of 1:33.92 in the 200-freestyle.

Nova Southeastern continues competition with the 1000-freestyle, 200-IM, 50-free, and 200-medley relay on Thursday, February 16. The finals are set to begin at 6 p.m.
