FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The Nova Southeastern Women’s Soccer team hosted their 2022 Senior Day on Saturday evening, hosting Atlantis at the NSU Soccer Complex. NSU Athletics honored nine seniors, Brianna Paige, Johanna Barth, Annie Bjork, Lily Truong, Sydney Hanson, Grace Palmer, Jaida Scott, Kristina Maribona, and Katharina Jüllich.
A four-year starter during her Nova Southeastern career, Paige has appeared in nearly 60 matches to date as a Shark. Making her debut in 2018, Paige started 12 games, played over one-thousand minutes and scored a goal against Rollins in Sunshine State Conference action. During her sophomore campaign, Paige logged over one-thousand minutes once again and made 18 starts for NSU, including all four NCAA tournament matches. In 2021, Paige recorded a career-high two goals, scoring against Florida Memorial and Lynn. In her final season, Paige has appeared in seven matches, totaling over 200 minutes. Brianna is joined by her parents, Andrew and Brenda.
Originally from Ride-back, Sweden, Johanna transferred to Nova Southeastern after two years at the University of Miami. Barth has started seven games in her lone season as a Shark, registering four shots-on-goal, in nearly 700 minutes. Barth has formed a terrific midfield duo with teammate Saga Bjorling. Back in Sweden, Barth was a member FC Rosengard during the UEFA Champions League Quarterfinals and was a member of the 2016 Swedish Championship team. Johanna is joined tonight by her parents, Carlos and Catarina.
Bjork transferred to Nova Southeastern prior to the 2020 season from Bridgeport. During her time as a Shark, Bjork has appeared in 17 matches, including starting 15. Bjork scored the first Sharks goal of her NSU career on September 10 against Florida Southern in Sunshine State Conference play. Prior to coming to Nova Southeastern, Bjork won the 2018 NCAA National Championship as a member of the Bridgeport women’s soccer program. Annie is joined tonight by her sister, Sara.
Lily joined NSU, before the 2021 season, after three seasons at Stetson. Trung has appeared in 21 matches during her two seasons at Nova Southeastern, recording 16 starts. In 2021, Trung took 18 shots and tallied four points, including one goal. During the 2022 season, Lily has started six games, scoring once. Lily is joined this evening by her parents, Vu and Tuyet.
Hanson transferred to Nova Southeastern prior to the 2022 season from Purdue Northwest. During the 2021 season for the Lions, Hanson played 18 matches. As a Shark, Hanson has appeared in three matches. Sydney is joined by teammate, Katharina Jüllich
Palmer came to Nova Southeastern before the Sharks 2019 season. During the 2019 campaign, NSU won a program record 17 matches and advanced to the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament. Grace is joined by her former teammate, Brittany and her mother, Gail.
Scott transferred to Nova Southeastern from Sunshine State Conference foe Barry, before the 2022 campaign. In her lone season as a Shark, Scott has helped anchor the NSU backline throughout the season. Scott has started all nine matches for NSU, playing every minute of each game, and has limited opponents to just six goals on the season. Jaida is joined by her father, Patrick Scott
Maribona, a part of the 2019 Nova Southeastern Elite Eight squad, has been a key contruibutor throughout her NSU career. Maribona appeared in 18 matches in the 2019 season, and was named to the 2019 Fall SSC Commissioners honor roll. Maribona started seven matches for Nova Southeastern during the 2021 season and earned her third consecutive Fall SSC Commissioner’s honor roll recognition. In 2022, Maribona has captained the Sharks to the top spot in the Sunshine State Conference so far on the season. Kristina is joined by her parents, Lilian and Javier, as well as her sisters Nikki and Katelyn, and her Godmother, Mindy
Jüllich, in her first season at Nova Southeastern, has appeared in nine matches – starting four, and has scored a pair of goals. Jüllich ‘s first goal of her Shark career came on the road against King, where the forward put the game-winning goal in the net. Prior to Nova Southeastern, Jüllich played three seasons at St. Thomas. In 2021, Jüllich started 18 matches for STU and scored seven goals.
