Early Offense Leads Sharks Past Bobcats

MIAMI GARDENS, FLA – The Sharks’ offense was ready to go right out the gate. After scoring three goals in the first 15 minutes, the Sharks were in cruise control the rest of the way, defeating St. Thomas 3-1 on Wednesday evening from AutoNation Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED

· The Sharks started the game on the offensive, scoring In the second minute of the match as Kristina Maribona fired one into the back of the net, giving the Sharks a early 1-0 lead.

· Minutes later, NSU tacked on to their lead, as Luana Grabias lasered one past the Bobcats’ goalkeeper, making it 2-0 in the fifth minute.

· At the 15-minute mark of the match, Lily Truong snuck one past the Bobcats’ goalkeeper, giving the Sharks a 3-0.

· Right after Truong’s goal, the Bobcats marched down field in hopes of scoring, but both of their shot attempts were knocked away by Stefane Rosa.

· In the closing minutes of the first half, the Bobcats were able to get one in net, making the score 3-1 going into the break.

· Louise Matsgard, and Kristina Maribona both fired shots on goal in the 2nd half but were swiped away by the Bobcats’ goalkeeper.

· The Sharks’ defense was the story of the 2nd half; shutting down the Bobcats’ offense and not allowing them to get a single shot on goal in the 2nd half.

STATS OF THE MATCH

· The Sharks outshot the Bobcats 16-13 in the match.

· Kristina Maribona scored her first goal of the season.

· Six different Sharks were able to get a shot on goal.

· The Sharks’ defense did not allow the Bobcats to get a shot on goal in the 2nd half.
