Sharks Open Season in Dominant Fashion

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – The Nova Southeastern Sharks Men’s and Women’s Cross Country teams began their 2022 season on Saturday morning, racing against St. Thomas and Florida National at the Bobcat Invitational. The Sharks women’s team, led by Kamila Soja, dominated the competition, finishing with the nine fastest times, for the lowest score in program history. On the men’s side, Joseph Salerno took the victory with a time of 16:02.90.

  • David Mahnke (2nd/16:34.19) and Adrien Zambaux (3rd/16:37.16) joined Salerno in the top-3 for the Sharks.  

  • Trey May placed fourth for NSU, fifth overall, posting a time of 17:09.08. 

  • Lucas Mardis (7th/17:47.38) and Thor Eriksson (10th/18:07.21) were the final top-10 finishers for Nova Southeastern.

Kamila Soja – “I thought today went really well and just wanted to see what I could do on our first meet. My goal is to continue getting better and improving each mile.” 

Joseph Salerno – “I thought this was a great way to open the season, we definitely shook the rust off and was a good day to run. My focus is to stay consistent and improve my times throughout the season.”

 The Sharks will race again on Sept. 17, traveling to Daytona Beach to race at Embry-Riddle.
