NORMAN, Okla. – Announced by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA), the Nova Southeastern men’s golf trio of Jonny Cachon, Emanuel Olofsson and Joseba Torres have each been recognized as 2021-22 Srixon/Cleveland Golf NCAA Division II All-America Scholars.
To be eligible for Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar nominations, an individual must be a sophomore, junior or senior both academically and athletically. In addition, they must have participated in 50 percent of their team’s competitive rounds, have had a stroke average under 78.0 and maintain a minimum cumulative career grade-point average of 3.2. A recipient must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at his college or university.
In all, 174 NCAA Division II athletes from 66 schools earned 2021-22 Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar honors.
The owner of a cumulative 3.41 GPA while majoring in Finance, Cachon posted a pair of runner-up finishes in seven tournament appearances in his final year as a Shark. Cachon fired a season-low round of (-5) 66 at the NSU Shark Invitational before ultimately closing 2021-22 with an overall scoring average of 73.00.
Olofsson secured his second straight All-America Scholar honor after concluding the spring with a 3.91 cumulative GPA in Sport and Recreation Management. In nine tournaments this year, the Swede recorded a collective scoring average of 72.48 en route to being selected Second Team All-Sunshine State Conference. He tallied a total of 11 rounds of par or better and racked up four Top-10 finishes, including a tie for fourth at Barry’s The Battle at the Shores.
Torres cracks the list for the first time in his career having wrapped up his sophomore year with a cumulative GPA of 3.64 in Finance. The Spaniard competed in eight tournaments for the Sharks in 2021-22, coming away with seven rounds of par or better. He tied for sixth at Florida Southern’s Matlock Collegiate Classic, finishing the season with a final scoring average of 73.67.
