NSU Duo Named Second Team All-SSC

MELBOURNE, Fla. – For the third time in their respective careers, Nova Southeastern women’s golfers Hanna Ahlander and Sofia Garcia Austt have been recognized as All-Sunshine State Conference performers, as the two were named to the All-SSC Second Team on Wednesday.

Ahlander’s latest second-team honor comes just one year after her initial second-team selection. She was also tabbed SSC Freshman of the Year back in 2019. Garcia Austt collects her second consecutive All-SSC Second Team award to go along with a first-team nod in 2019.

Voting for the All-SSC Women’s Golf Teams was conducted among the conference’s women’s golf coaches.

This season, Ahlander led the Sharks with a team-best scoring average of 74.39 while competing in all 10 tournaments. Among the 10 events, she earned four Top-10 finishes including a pair of runner-up finishes at the World Golf Invitational and the Emerald Coast Classic – the latter landing her SSC Player of the Week honors on Mar. 21. Ahlander has recorded eight rounds of even-par or better, and according to Golfstat, is currently ranked as the No. 14 player in NCAA Division II.

In the final year of her notable NSU career, Garcia Austt has posted a scoring average of 74.60 across nine tournaments and 25 total rounds. She collected seven Top-20 finishes in the nine tournaments, including a pair of T-8’s at the Jupiter Women’s Invitational and the Rollins Legends Invitational. Meanwhile. Garcia Austt has shot rounds of even-par or better five times, and is currently the No. 28 player in Golfstat’s Division II rankings.
