NSU Races at Spikes Classic

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Nova Southeastern Sharks Men’s and Women’s track programs competed at the Spikes Classic, hosted by Embry-Riddle on Friday afternoon. NSU raced in the 1500, the women’s 4 x 800 relay and the 5000 meters.

HOW IT HAPPENED 

  • Julie Bruggner was the first Shark to finish in the 1500, posting a time of 5:13.38. Shortly after Bruggner finished, Caitlyn Rogers crossed the finish line for NSU with a time of 5:15.73. 

  • Lauren Breski and Tessa Grotzinger added top-50 finishes for Nova Southeastern, with time of 5:33.25 and 5:34.92, respectively.  

  • Aaron Weimer completed the 1500 with a time of 4:11.50 and was the first Shark to finish the race. Trey May placed 39th with a time of 4:14.50 

  • The relay team of Maya Espinosa, Christina Adams, Kamila Soja, and Ivanova Yanes placed second overall in the 4×800 relay with a time of 9:55.41, which set a new program record. 

  • Ivanova Yanes added a top-10 finish for NSU in the 5000-meter, placing ninth overall with a time of 18:39.  

  • Eden Toal just missed on a second top-10 finish for the Sharks, placing 12th in 19:06.99. 

  • Joseph Salerno recorded a top-5 finish in the 5000-meter for NSU, placing fourth with a time of 15:17.88. 

  • Adrien Zambaux also placed in the top-10 for the Sharks, finishing with a time of 15:27.11 and placing seventh.  

UPCOMING 

The Sharks will be competing in a pair of events on Friday, April 8, splitting the team with Sharks traveling to both Cleveland, TN., and Coral Gables, Fla., to compete at Lee (TN.) and Miami.
