GREENSBORO, N.C. – The NCAA Division II Men’s and Women’s Swimming & Diving National Championships are set to begin on Wednesday and the Sharks are looking to add more hardware and lore to the program. The Greensboro Aquatic Center will serve as the Sharks tank over the next four days, where the Sharks will be competing from Wednesday to Saturday.
The NCAA National Championship begins on Wednesday morning with preliminary time trials before the first waves of national title competitions beginning at 6 p.m. On 2/23 it was announced that 60 swimmers from the Sunshine State Conference are traveling to compete, with 21 of those athletes representing Nova Southeastern Men’s and Women’s Swimming.
In last year’s national championship meet, the Sharks women’s swimming program finished eighth, while the men placed 14th. Cassandra Wright, Savanna Best, Sasha Maslova, and Solana Capalbo earned a bronze in the 400-medley in 2021, finishing with a time of 3:39.83.
The NSU Women’s swimming team heads to Greensboro after taking the crown in the 2021-22 Sunshine State Conference Championships, retaining their title from 2019-20. Savanna Best, the reigning SSC Swimmer of the Meet, enters the national competition as the top qualifier in the 100-breaststroke. Best is joined by Celina Marquez, who’s favored in the 100/200 backstroke. Additionally, NSU will be represented by Estelle Bauer, Brady Estrada, May Lowy, Sasha Maslova, Victoria Ortiz, Neta Shiff, Cassandra Wright, Solana Capalbo and Amilia Nusbaum.
