NSU Locked in as No. 1 Seed, Host of NCAA South Region Tournament

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Just hours after bringing home the program’s very first Sunshine State Conference Tournament title, head coach Jim Crutchfield and the Nova Southeastern men’s basketball team concluded Sunday with more good news as the Sharks were announced as the top seed and host of the NCAA South Region Tournament in the 2022 NCAA Division II Men’s Basketball Championship. .

The Sharks (28-0) will face No. 8 seed Savannah State (15-13) on Saturday, Mar. 12 at 5 p.m. ET inside the Rick Case Arena. The two programs have never met before.

In all, the NSU campus will play host to seven tournament games between Mar. 12-15: all four regional quarterfinal contests on Saturday, two regional semifinal matchups on Sunday, Mar. 13, with the NCAA South Region Championship to follow on Tuesday, Mar. 15. The winner will then advance to the Elite Eight, which will be held at the Ford Center in Evansville, Ind., beginning Mar. 22 and concluding with the National Championship game on Mar. 26.

Quarterfinals – Saturday, March 12
Game 1: No. 3 Embry-Riddle (22-9) vs. No. 6 West Alabama (24-6), 12 p.m.
Game 2: No. 2 Barry (20-8) vs. No. 7 Alabama-Huntsville (22-10), 2:30 p.m.
Game 3: No. 1 Nova Southeastern (28-0) vs. No. 8 Savannah State (15-13), 5 p.m.
Game 4: No. 4 Union (23-8) vs. No. 5 Miles (24-4), 7:30 p.m.

Semifinals – Sunday, March 13
Game 5: Winner of Game 1 vs. Winner of Game 2, 5:00 p.m.
Game 6: Winner of Game 3 vs. Winner of Game 4, 7:30 p.m.

South Region Championship – Tuesday, March 15
Winner of Game 5 vs. Winner of Game 6, 7 p.m.
