MELBOURNE, Fla. – The Sunshine State Conference announced its 2021 All-Conference teams earlier on Tuesday, with No. 21 Nova Southeastern placing three student-athletes on the first, second, and third-teams. Marianna Fiocco (First-Team), Elizabeth Price (Second-Team/All-Freshman), and Madison Cook (Third-Team) were the Sharks recognized by the SSC.
Fiocco, in her first season at NSU, helped lead the Sharks to a 24-5 record on the campaign. The Verona, Italy-native finished the season with 180-kills (2.34 per-set), 59-blocks, and 17 service aces. Fiocco recorded a season-high 18 kills and a 0.630 hitting percentage in a five-set win over Lynn on Oct. 26.
Price, a redshirt-freshman from Tampa, Fla., was a sensational offensive piece for the Sharks from the first serve of the 2021 season. Price led NSU in kills on the season, recording 326. The freshman started her collegiate career with 20-kills against Pittsburg State and recorded double-digit kills in 17 matches on the season. Price was named the Sunshine State Attacker of the Week on Sept. 20.
Cook, a four-time recipient of the Sunshine State Setter of the Week award, captained the Sharks offense throughout the season. The redshirt-sophomore setter from Oviedo, Fla., led NSU with 736 assists, establishing a career-high in a four-set victory over Pittsburg State. Cook earned her four SSC Setter of the Week honors on 9/6, 9/27, 10/11 and 11/15.
The No. 21 Sharks were selected as the third-seed in the NCAA South Regional Tournament, advancing to the national tournament for the first time since 2009. NSU will take on sixth-seeded Alabama-Huntsville in Pensacola, Fla., on Thur., Dec. 2, from the campus of West Florida. First-serve is scheduled for 12 p.m.
