#8 Sharks Earn Third Straight Victory

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Getting off to a fast start, the No. 8 Nova Southeastern Sharks Men’s Basketball used their early momentum to defeat the Warriors of Nyack 114-85 on Tuesday afternoon from the Rick Case Arena. RJ Sunahara made his 2021-22 debut in the game, scoring 19-points on 80% shooting from the field.

HOW IT HAPPENED 

1ST HALF – NSU started the game on a 6-0 run, as Sekou Sylla capped the run with a lay-up. Shane Hunter hit a lay-up of his own to extend the Sharks’ advantage to 14-5. Lukas Speidel hit his first three-pointer of the game, giving NSU a 20-10 lead over the Warriors with 13:29 remaining in the first half. Back-to-back three-pointers from Sunahara and Kobe Rodgers put the Sharks ahead 36-23. Five consecutive points from Spiedel gave NSU a 51-33 lead with 5:22 left on the clock. Nova Southeastern closed out the first half with a 62-43 advantage over the Warriors.  

2ND HALF – The Sharks maintained their momentum into the second half, beginning with a 7-0 run as Sunahara, Nick Smith, and Sylla all added points. Dallas Graziani extended the run with two consecutive three-pointers, putting the Sharks up 75-45. Midway through the second half, Sylla put Nova Southeastern ahead 94-61 following a steal from Smith. Kaine McColley added a lay-up, as the Sharks cracked the 100-point mark for the first time in the 2021-22 season, leading 100-71 with 5:43 left in the contest. NSU closed out their third straight win, 114-85, over Nyack. 

BEYOND THE BOX 

  • Nick Smith earned his first double-double of the season, scoring 13 points and adding 10 assists.  

  • 11 Sharks were able to register points in the contest, with Sekou Sylla scoring a team-high 22.  

UP NEXT 

No. 8 Nova Southeastern returns from the Thanksgiving break to play Palm Beach Atlantic in Sunshine State Conference play on Wed., 12/1 from the Rick Case Arena. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
