FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The Nova Southeastern’s women’s basketball team has announced their first addition to the upcoming roster, local 5-7 guard Sarei McGill.
“Sarei is a powerful, fast and explosive guard who has tremendous impact on both ends of the floor and fills up the box score,” explained head coach LeAnn Freeland-Curry. “As the leading scorer her junior and senior year at local power Nova HS, Sarei is hard to contain offensively. She has the ability to grab the defensive rebound and go coast to coast for the layup, power through contact at the rim and has developed her perimeter shot. Defensively, she is a playmaker who also puts a lot of pressure on the ballhandler.”
McGill, a senior team captain at Nova HS, averaged 18.8 points, 10.7 rebounds, 3.4 steals and 2.1 assists per game during here senior season. Over the course of her career, McGill helped lead her team to a 98-16 overall record, while earning the 2020 SUTS New Year’s Classic MVP title. In addition to high school basketball, McGill also competed for four years with the Miami Suns AAU organization.
“Overall, Sarei is a very hard worker and has been well-coached by Coach Hively and the Suns organization,” said Freeland-Curry. “Because of this, she will be very prepared for college basketball. Our coaching staff and players are excited to announce Sarei McGill is a Shark!”
