MELBOURNE, Fla. – Becoming the first Nova Southeastern men’s golfer to earn the award since Apr. 1, 2019, junior Tomas Millet has been named the Sunshine State Conference Player of the Week, announced by the league office Monday evening.
The accolade marks the first of Millet’s career.
Trailing by two shots with two holes to play, the Spaniard finished birdie-par to overcome Saint Leo’s Alberto Castagnara by one stroke en route to his first career victory last Tuesday at the Saint Leo Invitational. Millet fired a two-under par 70 during the final round, ultimately posting a 54-hole score of eight-under par, while Nova Southeastern collectively finished third among the field’s 12 teams. Millet individually led all players in Par-4 scoring average (3.90). His win is the first by an NSU player since Juan Jose Guerra took home the Southeastern Collegiate title on Mar. 12, 2019.
Millet and the Sharks will return to competition this Sunday for the opening round of the Southeastern Collegiate, hosted by Valdosta State. For tournament coverage, visit the schedule page on NSUSharks.com or follow the Sharks on Twitter @NSU_MGolf.
