Town of Davie to Hold “Concerts on the Corner” Live Music Series
Davie, Florida: The Town of Davie will be hosting the “Concerts on the Corner” live music concert series beginning Tuesday, October 16, 2012, and running each Tuesday night through November 13, 2012. The concerts will be held in the grass field on the northwest corner of Davie Road and Orange Drive from 5 to 8 p.m. The concerts are free.
The event will include food trucks, a bounce house, and sponsor displays. Acts scheduled to perform include: Shadow Creek, Electric Piquette, Skwirls Gone Bad, Studio One Band, and Iko Iko. Parking is free, courtesy of Rick Case Automotive Group and available at the Bergeron Rodeo Grounds, 4271 Orange Drive. Bring your blankets and chairs and enjoy dinner and live music!

The Town of Davie proudly presents the Annual Independence Day Craft and Fireworks Show on Wednesday, July 4, 2012, at Pine Island Park, located at 3801 South Pine Island Road, Davie. The event will begin at 6 p.m. with a fireworks show at 9 p.m.
Enjoy live music performed by Burnt Biscuit, and free family activities including bounce houses, a climbing wall, arts and crafts, and complimentary cake! Plenty of free parking will be available.
October 1, 2010, Davie, Florida: The Town of Davie Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) will sponsor “Here’s For The Party,”in Downtown Davie (Davie Road & Orange Drive) on Saturday, November 6, 2010, from 12 noon until 6 p.m. The block party will feature a free concert with Country Super Star Gretchen Wilson at 4:30 p.m.
“Here’s for the Party” in Downtown Davie is in conjunction with theSoutheastern Circuit Final Rodeo which is scheduled for November 4, 5 and 6 at the Bergeron Rodeo Grounds located at 4271 Davie Road. Gates open at 6 p.m. each night.
“Here’s For The Party” will have free family activities for everyone to enjoy.No glass bottles, coolers, or pets will be allowed. Orange Drive west of Davie Road to Dr. Kronk Way (S.W. 45 Way) will be closed to vehicle traffic from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on November 6.
Recently I had the extreme good fortune of receiving a phone call from the former writer with the Ft. Lauderdale Sun-Sentinel. It turns out that Thomas still lives in the area and works for a large national insurance company. We met for lunch and reminisced about days now past in the Town of Davie.
The Florida Department of Transportation’s (FDOT) contractor will be closing Orange Drive at the 14500 block west of Boyscout Road. FDOT’s contractor will be making connection with the new bridge and Orange Drive. The closure is scheduled for Monday, April, 20th 2009 and will remain closed for five (5) weeks. The detour route will utilize Griffin Road, Westin Road and SW 36th Street.
