Orange Blossom Festival
The 72nd Annual Orange Blossom Festival, Parade & Rodeo focuses on Davie’s unique heritage and rural roots as an agricultural community. Dating back to the early 1950’s, this festival has grown to include a heritage parade, an arts and crafts fair, a fine arts show, an antique stage coach and wagon display, a livestock fair, an Orange Blossom cook-off, a Strawberry Festival, interactive children’s area, live country entertainment, a country barbecue, and two days of professional rodeo. The festival takes place this year, on February 28 & March 1, 2009, 9:00am to 5:00pm both days.
I hope to see you at the parade, which starts on Davie Road at 10 a.m. on Saturday, February 28th; and throughout the festival weekend.
Great Trans-Davie Unicycle Ride
On Saturday, February 21, 2009, Mayor Tom Truex will ride the length and width of Davie on a Unicycle. Please join me along the route to celebrate the Town of Davie's great recreational bicycle/unicycle trail system! Note: This is not a parade or a rally--no police escort, so travel at you own risk. It's a demonstration that it is possible to navigate the length and width of Davie on our recreational trail system, using a few sidewalks and roads here and there. You are welcome to join me at the stopping points noted, or along the way. The complete route and details are available at www.unicycle.davie.org.
